Question! Would you say artists who don’t do fan art but do original things only perform more poorly at conventions? I know clearly there’s a market for fan art since it’s an anime con but I tend to do majority original stuff and I’ve only done 1 anime convention. I did alright – met a lot of nice people! But I’m curious if you have advice about that? I prefer making totally original stuff but have a few fan adjacent things

Never done AX but been to other industry cons in that venue. Bruh. Even from the confines of a booth it's A LOT. AX feels like something to work up to, even as an attendee. Like do SacAnime, Fanime first, get used to the sensory overload, pace yourself. Looks awesome, tho, and glad artist alley is so big in a year where real artistry is lk under threat.
2nd year at AX and I was stressing about ICE and my family dog being put to sleep. I did get to enjoy the first 2days but yeah I hope next year I can relax and stop by your booth to see the goods.

5:15 I spent most of Day 1 in Artist Alley. I feel like it wasn't as packed as usual bc it was on a Thursday. There were still crowds, but it was manageable. Day 3 (Sat) was so chaotic! 😂

This year was my first Anime Expo (I am however a frequent con attendee Otakon, PAX, Comic con) and over all my expeience was really good! Artist alley is always the hightlight of every con I attend and AX was no exception. I had a great time meeting and chatting with so many new to me artists. I would love to attend again.
I made it through two aisles of Artists Alley and declared “I can’t hang” and went upstairs, never to return.
for two of my friends – saturday was the best day of the con by far, where saturday sales eclipsed both thursday/friday combined, so i really think everyone's experience is very different!

I attended AX back in 2017. I had a great time. Never experience the crowds. Love it as attendee but I love to vend at AX one day!!!

I would love to go to anime expo, however, i have two hold backs $$$$ and anxiety. some videos of anime expo bring out the anxiety. so far its small/medium size cons for me.

You're right that a large proportion of the people at AX don't attend other cons in the area, but I'm not sure that means they're new to cons — I think it's more that AX draws tourists from all over the world who go to their own local cons.
Friend recommended me your video and I love it! Very cool to see the behind the scenes and understanding the artist's POV for this con. AX holds a very special place in my heart because I've gone to it for so long (half of it staffing too). I'll have to come to your booth next time!

It's crazy to see so much foot traffic in the artist alley than the exhibit hall. I couldn't see all the tables due to how crowded the artist alley was this year.😩
I was surprised you didn't discuss (or perhaps you did in another video so I apologize in advance) how you were trying to vend in the exhibitor hall vs the artist alley for 2025. Was it harder or more difficult to get into exhibitor hall or are you guaranteed to vend at Artist Alley because you've vended at AX consistently now for the past few years?
