Japan’s First AI Anime is Trash? Or Exactly What They Wanted? – Twins Hinahima Anime Review

Kaka Technology Studio released the first 95% Produced AI Anime Twins Hinahima. Is it trash, or an advertisement that technically works as intended? I review the show and talk about it’s possible purpose!

  1. 1% of peoples : IA is bad ! Cause it's ia.
4% of peoples : Is the anime good ? (Thinking about scenario)
15% of peoples : Is the anime look good ? (look only the image)
80% of peoples : A GIRL moving in my screen !!! SO COOL !

  2. A shame that the story sounds interesting, at least coming from you.

  3. If animators can't be paid enough is because the Anime itself does not make enough to warrant paying more, so instead of enslaving animators using Ai is for the best in this case. People romanticize animation too much, most of it is grueling grunt work, key posing aside. In a sense, people will have more time to think about the key aspects of the animation and let the ai fill in the blank.

  4. As this anime shows, with its pretty intriguing sounding story, there is a huge cultural gap/discrepancy that is currently NOT being served:
    – people that can tell very high quality stories, but cannot write entire books (because they do not care about prose that much). I.e., they can write something that is closer to screenplays and in general architect story developments. Also they might enjoy crafting visual media more than textual (even if their forte, as said, is creating stories, not drawing pictures).

AI allows this person to create a story that would OTHERWISE NEVER EXIST. It literally makes existing — as in pulls into existence –creativity that in previous decades and centuries went to waste, never being expressed.

    – even IF above person could write the story they envision in form of a book, THEN a large section of the populace still would not want to read that even though they would enjoy the story, because they do not enjoy the MEDIUM, i.e. reading long texts/books (as much as they enjoy visual media). So AI generation helps to make this piece of art/creativity (that we have above said only now is able to even exist in the world) available to a new kind of audience.

What I am saying is that AI allows both a NEW TYPE of writer/creator, as well as allowing an extended/different kind of audience to enjoy the fruits of this work.

I know THIS anime was really more a tech demo, but it shows the future of what could be possible in the hands of like a storywriter-key artist human duo or trio.

  5. There were digitally drawn anime haters, there were cgi anime haters and now are AI generated anime haters. All the tools are just a part of the process how to make a story looking even better (tho, in many of these new technologies there were failed attempts).

  6. From what I see it doesn't had much different when watching a 3D cg anime.
People are making a big deal calling this an AI art..

  7. the lip sync was great tho. a lot more expressive then the 2 or 3 frames we normally get

  8. The quality is probably similar to non-AI low-budget anime productions. My worry is that this ends up flooding the anime market with poor quality productions because it will become even cheaper to make such low-effort work. When this happens, streaming platforms may become more selective, and there is a risk that good anime gets overlooked.

  9. As a filmmaker who uses AI regularly in combination with VFX and even practical effects miniatures and stop motion, I want to say thank you for your even handed take on all of this. It's a tool that when used right can work very well and has enabled me to fulfill visions I never could have without a huge budget, before. It's not my problem if others want to use it wrong. I only care that I can use it to do things my way and I don't have to wait for permission from anyone or raise money only to spend it on substandard work by lazy flakes who bail half the time. (Sorry but it's the norm.)

  10. I liked the anime. It was well done, and will only improve in the future. (smoother animation, fewer glitches, and AI voiced)

  11. Never even herd of it. AI still has a long way to go.

  12. Just watched it after this video made me aware. I honestly don’t agree with the harsh criticism given tbh, it has slight moments of unnatural facial transitions, but a lot of hand drawn anime have way worse, to the point you can hardly recognise the characters! 6 fingers? Maybe if you play at quarter speed you can spot occasional errors but if you’re watching it as entertainment rather than analysing every frame the art and angles used (thanks to humans) are stunning.
I understand this video is giving an in depth analysis and needs to discuss the weaknesses, but to an anime fan without AI prejudices it’s really impressive.

  13. I liked the show a lot. When watching it found the ai use and experience incredibly comparable to the full CG shows that come out. And I much prefer this to the clunky CG models with the static overlayed faces. CG shows feel incredibly static and formulated, not expressive. This ai tech demo delivered a more enjoyable experience for me

  14. Dude I value your opinions & perspectives so much. You cover so many parts & directions of a situation/topic and I appreciate how you come at these things. Please keep doing what you do 😄

  15. It's really hard to understand how this will impact the industry. How many mangas never got a complete adaptation, because it was just too expensive to do? What if studios are able to take on more projects, and perform them at a higher level, and maintain their staffs because they have more being produced? What if individual animators are better paid, as they have more impact, and there is more series to support them? What if all of the crappy level D series, start moving their way toward A level, because they can afford to put more budget into better writing? It's possible that the increase in leverage actually improves the situation for everyone one, and not 'just' the studio's bottom line.

  16. I can picture some time far in the future, AI is gonna realize it can't keep up with quality control with art and creativity and will start stealing brains from dying people like in "86–Eighty-Six" anime.

  17. AI is coming. It's the future. This feels like done with some old tech, yes old. 1-2 years old (enough timeframe to call it old-outdated). AI will be fully used in some 5-10 years for animations. Check veo 3 now. 100% it'll be x5 better in next few years.

  18. It's not 95%. AI is used in 95% scenes, but it doesn't men 95%. Actually less than 30%.

  19. This anime sounds like a form of 'goal progression' for the tech company. People often have to provide a demonstration of a product to create more interest and investment. It's a way of proving that they're actually achieving something. Alternately, have you ever heard of Star Citizen? It's a game that's an extreme example of trying to do everything at once rather than steps (though they tried to improve the situation after the fact). People have lost faith in it now.

  20. lowkey decent and good experiment ngl

  21. Was hoping you’d say it’s the first and the last … 😞

  22. Girl Party on YouTube is made with 100% AI art.

  23. I still say fuck AI. I am almost done with anime in general. There are some studios I like but outside of that I just read manga. I prefer hand drawn.

  24. I wonder if it'll be similar to CG-use where people can kind of tell when a scene (or whole show) is cheaped out on. "Ah, CG dragons" might become "Ah, AI hands". I remember being told CG will only get better but I can still spot it a mile away in most cases. Let alone on closer inspection. Maybe AI will be different, but maybe not

  25. Didn’t expect a video about this, even forgot it existed and i dont even think pirated sites has this show

  26. I've said this in another video – but I still maintain I'd take this animation 99 out of 100 times over 'CGI'. Even 'really good CGI' always manages to suck. This AI managed to feel 100 times better like it fit – the Art is 100 times better than the CGI – and the transitions are 100 times better than CGI. I do agree with all your comments about where it falls flat – my point it is that it's still better than the CGI that's been used. And I'll take 6 fingers over CGI every time.

  27. Destroying the environment for absolute hot garbage. AI requires a lot of land, energy, and fresh water resources.

  28. The people who hate AI are the same people sitting in their horse & cart shaking their fist as someone drives by in their Model T.

  29. I just think it’s funny that it can’t figure out that we have 5 fingers on each hand haha. But AI will definitely improve over the next few years that they can do it perfectly.

  30. I think the concept of a few great artists putting a ton of art into an ai system to create basically limitless art from their specific style holds a lot of value for the future of smaller projects. Nobody wants to do the soulless parts and even if they use ai just for background art etc. its probably going to be a win.

  31. So when your program and all human content creators thrown off any platform and replaced by AI your fine. When all jobs are replaced by AI and the robots start killing 99 percent of humans so rich have luxury world your fine? Or the computer kill off all of humans your fine.
This not the only parts of economy threat of past this the ending all work threat.

Now will they get there as fast as they claim not likely AI is a lie a scam term drawing on what the public thinks is AI for advanced pattern matching that actually does not understand anything. When solving math problems it comes up with answer from data base then has to work the math from the answer backwards to fake doing the equations it claimed it did.

All animation shortage caused by fail by workers who need to organize and strike to solve the pay problem. Most parts of world they would have struck years ago. Plus success of anime has lots more being made.

  32. You're being too harsh on the AI, I've seen worse with 3D. The AI was pretty good. It looked better than some hand drawn anime I've seen design-wise and animation-wise. I never realized the 6 fingers issue was in the anime, and I watched it multiple times. I liked it, and I'm looking forward to AI getting better. Hopefully, it will be available for broke people in the future.

  33. You know, this kind of leads into the same discussion you have mentioned before in that article. Of why hollywood thinks anime is cheap to produce, japan is as much to blame for that idea coming to light as Hollywood is for thinking its reality. Japan wants to pay literally nothing for everything. When it comes to anime, which is a dream for hollywood because that means lots of profit and less payment in truth, if japan paid their workers a fair wage for their work when it comes to anime, that idea in hollywood would have never came into a reality in truth, hollywood is only going by what they see, and if japan wants to change that idea, they need to pay fear wages to their workers when it comes to anime it is a simple fix, but something most studios will never do.

  34. Now we just need AI to pay for the subscription to streaming services

  35. I'm glad it was successful.. Hopefully, the little guys or genetal audience will be able to make their own animation in the future.

  36. I liked it, hopefully these seasonal slop can use some ai to make it look better.
I don't care about ai at all, specially on an "ethical" level.

  37. 0:40 no, it wasn't, you can stop lying.

  38. When current industry says AI they always talk about LLM which are just auto complete on steroids.
I don't see these AIs as worthy replacement in any creative function. They completely lack any understanding of the world or context, which is why hair can suddenly shoot off in random direction, or hands have 6 fingers.
Sure we can teach them not to make these glaring mistakes, but it doesn't fix the underlying issue about LLM having no concept of what they are doing.

  39. Great video! Where can this dub be streamed in the USA?

  40. Your plot synopsis actually sounds really meta given that its the AI anime 🤣

  41. I just don't want AI to take art positions at the end of the day. I think there is plenty of good and even ethical uses for AI but I don't see the industry trying to fill those roles I see it just stealing IP from anyone and everyone to make a subpar product that eats itself that only executives trying to eak out x% increase in profits can stand. Most AI is just a loud noise in a crowd meant to grab your attention but offers you nothing. Even if an AI can trick me into feeling a human connection to something I don't want that feeling or to be tricked and if an industry continues to convert to more and more AI i'll just stop giving that content my attention. If AI takes over anime I'll read manga if it goes there I'll just divest my attention into other things and if nothing is created then I'll spend my time drawing or playing music or painting and making the things I want to see on my own.

  42. AI is like knife. It can be used to build or it can be used to destroy. Time will tell

  43. I am mixed on A.i.
On one hand I understand why a number of people hate it, because its being handled incorrectly.
Or better is being handled correctly based on a biblical context.
But imagine if a big number of people hated the internet when it came out, over time I don't like the internet, but I want to be in an isekai reality. My example is the exemption, does it disprove any rule? Only God knows, and anyone who can make good guesses.

A.i. does need to be used better. That is what I can say at the moment, watching a v-tuber.

  44. Andrew being reasonable about AI? I pray this comment section learns from his example.

  45. The audience may not necessarily hate the AI slop, but they sure don't seem to be particularly interested in it in general, it seems.

Btw quite funny that the trailer on YouTube for this had all comments locked iirc. 🤔

  46. Im more curious about the budged for this anime.
