I like School Romance Anime, Because it is usually very Sweet and innocent, the reality does not matter to me.
Well it's like when fantasy meets reality, only the two aren't remotely related.
Japan being the opposite of anime isn't so surprising, but that's probably the appeal anime has on people whether they're Japanese or western. the characters are like a reflection of people living out their ideal fantasy, that's because people do have those thoughts. video games are similar in that way, only you get to make choices for the protagonist.

American brainwash of Japanese people bringing in "romantic" culture which is for men/boys to exploit the girl's purity. It's sad that is the reality in Japan today. Ig it's not weird that there are a lot of singles in Japan who cannot find one. Making a lot of anime centered around romantic relationship in high-school will just cause another issue where men does not want to get married(anime is often used as propaganda tool). Like what's happening in the West.
