Grave of the Fireflies | Official Trailer | Netflix

Orphans Seita (voiced by Tsutomu Tatsumi) and Setsuko (Ayano Shiraishi) fight for survival in post-World War II Japan. But society is harsh, and they come to the somber conclusion that they can neither escape the hardships of war nor find enough food to survive. Named the Best Animated Feature at the 1994 Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, this film proves that not all anime tales are pixie-dust fantasies or brutal sci-fi standoffs.

  1. "She Never Woke Up Again"

Don't Watch This Guys, That's One Will Kill You

  2. Stop war…free palestine

  3. Made me cry at 12am

  4. No.
That’s all I have to say.

  5. whenever i want to cry i watch this

  6. This movie shows the biggest criminal country America's reality… Americans should feel ashamed of them

  7. Personally I didn't cry, i mean the story is good and sad, but crying isn't mandatory.
    Perfect blend of realism

  8. She :- I Made Rice Bowls For You 😢💔

  9. Setsuko never woke up again the words never going to leave my mind even after death

  10. im gonna watch this again and ill tell yall how it turned out

  11. same is happenning thaousand of times in Gaza, even worse…..

  12. This movie is a ONCE in a lifetime experience. You'll remember it decades later.

  13. From the beggining i understood but goin through the movie was still worth it 100%

  14. Even just taking a sneak peek of the Trailer, I cant stop myself from tearing up.

  15. This movie fucking broke me. I was too hollow to even cry. 10/10

  16. Fun fact: this depress-a-thon of a movie was shown as a double feature with the decidedly light, upbeat, funny and cute My Neighbour Totoro in Japanese theatres. I don’t know in which order they were shown, and I’m not sure what order would be worse (ie, laughing your way through Totoro only to be head into the depths of depression with Fireflies, or getting so bummed out by Fireflies you couldn’t enjoy Totoro)😆

  17. Today's reality is very similar to this…

  18. Seeing the comment section, I don't think I can dare to watch it now

  19. IF YOU THOUGHT THIS WAS SAD, read this.
I didn’t think I could be more sad about this story when I watched this movie 10 years ago… THEN I learned that the real kid that Seita is based off of actually hoarded and ate all the food causing his own sisters malnutrition 😪 he wrote it in his book and mentioned how a few times he even hit her in the head to silence her when he was trying to sleep.

When she died of malnutrition, he felt relieved to not have to take care of his baby sis and finally felt free.

30 years later he was consumed by extreme guilt. So he wrote Grave of the Fireflies as an autobiographical apology to his sister. his character is a nice older brother that dies in the end as a form of therapy for himself and apology for his sister that he didn’t care for adequately..

Studio Ghibli then adapted his autobiography into the movie.😮‍💨

  20. I watched the movie, it's a good movie but I didn't cry, I don't know why

  21. this is such a sad film, and I watched it

  22. Very sad to think I rented from my Hollywood vide store back in like 2003 ish when I was in high school

  23. Cold heart is also cry 🥺 .

  24. Why the fuck I would ever watch it why why why why.

  25. Stupid presidents of all the nations. Making the armies a paid puppet and the nation as battle field while they are sleeping peacefully. Stupid adam and eve who ate the apple

  26. It hits you if you try to put yourself in their shoes 🥀

  27. Watch it once and once only – Trust me. It'll stay with you forever.

  28. Seita suffered two deaths in one day.

  29. It was named “Best Animated Feature at a CHILDREN’S film festival???? sorry???? this film????

  30. If I ever have a daughter, her name will be Setsuko😢

  31. SHE DIED WHEN SHE WAS 4 NLLLL

  32. Okay but why did it get dubbed again?? Apparently there's 3 dubs and I've only seen the one by Sentai Works and it was so much better than this one I actually couldn't watch it and put in my DVD instead lol

  33. I’m unfortunately one of those people who have watched it many times and have become numb to the story. The soundtrack is killer and something many people don’t talk about.

  34. I couldn't watch this all at once. I have to pause for a long time to be able to process. Such a heart breaking movie.

  35. At first i was skeptical about the reviews on how sad and depressing this movie is, not after i watch. Though I'm not emotional person but this movie did really tears me up, and everytime i remember the sad scenes it hurts.

  36. This is happening in gaza right now 😢😢😢😢

  37. Everyone is talking about watching this movie only once. Imagine having to WORK on this movie.

  38. This movie seems to want to talk as follows

"It wasn’t just you ( other Asian countries who got invaded by Japan) who suffered — we ( Japanese) went through a lot too."

If it is the main message, this movie is portraying a war criminal ( Japanese) as a victim.
