I Watched The MOST DISTURBING BANNED Anime So You Don’t Have To…
Did you know that there’s an Anime movie that was deemed so disturbing, so traumatizing, and so visually scarring that it was literally banned from everywhere in the world, including Japan?
Midori: Shojo Tsubaki (Or Shoujo Tsubaki idk how it’s spelled in english tbh lol) is an Anime movie from 1992 that was extremely controversial and for good reason. It depicts some of the most awful and disgusting things I’ve ever seen in any form of media, ever. It was just…yuck.

Hi everyone! I've been reading through the comments and I've been learning a lot from everyone's different perspectives and experiences. First off, I just want to say thank you so much for everyone who gave their input. I think it's great that we're able to discuss such serious and awful things that happen in the world in a mature and understanding way. I also wanted to say I'm very sorry to those who have suffered similar problems to the ones depicted in the film. No one should have to go through such awfulness and my heart is with you. I hope you are doing better today and even if you're still struggling, there's definitely hope down the road and I hope you're able to believe that.
I didn't even think about this when I was writing this video, but I can now see that some people may actually find a bit of comfort in how realistically this film depicts some of the subject matter. Although there may not be a "message" or "deeper meaning" to the film, I can see why this film might serve a purpose in that it can help the victims of CSA felt heard and seen. My personal opinion on the film is still, well, I don't like the film, but I've also definitely had a shift in my perspective in this movie. Again, thank you for those who have commented and those who have opened up about their prior experiences.
Although this video is unique in that I'm probably going to go back to making a lot more comedic and unserious content after this, I think this was definitely an eye opening experience for me and I hope it can teach someone else out there about the awful truths that exist in our world. Thanks for your continued support, and I'll see you in the next video I decide to make y'all!

Was there rats😊
i really hate that puppy scene😢
I’ve seen this whole anime movie because a horror group I was in on fb did a watch party and played it… I was traumatized….
15:43 so basically genjutsu
I accidentally watched pupa when i was 8. Do you guys think I'll be able to handle this?
that’s probably from a creators subconscious darkest shadow
i had seen this movie and its a bad movie
I’d be pissed too if my job was outdone by a groomer
No fucking way bro was so terrible that he got his shit banned in YOUR OWN HOME
Too late, I already watched it. I’d say I had a hard time following the story because I watched it without subtitles but the visuals…you don’t need to understand what they’re saying to know that it’s f—cked (subject wise, the quality of the film itself is another discussion)
"This Anime was banned pretty much everywhere…"
Me: "Yeah, that tracks for Japanese stuff, they go to some weird places a lot more comfortably-"
"…including Japan."
Me: "Wait, what?! You have my attention!"
Personally, my perspective on art is, art isn't about making something beautiful, it's about making the audience feel something, and not necessarily something good. I also wholeheartedly support using media to show people the darkest sides of humanity and the world we live in, to help those lucky enough to not have suffered such horrific things understand just how lucky they are and empathize with those who weren't so lucky. So I don't think this movie was meant to "entertain" anyone, or for anyone to "enjoy" it, the whole point was to make the audience feel some shadow of the horrific trauma that some real people unfortunately do experience. So if you didn't enjoy the movie, it did its job correctly. Does that make sense?
I just do not get how someone could draw a child especially going through this. I already don't understand how media can be so okay with showing graphic depictions of SA, but lord especially to a CHILD.
Just watched it, not a lot of n*dity and gore, but it felt like some parts and the ending was 'missing'?
It’s sad that this is relatable to so many that suffered this sort of abuse even if not all that was portrayed. When you’ve been through hell this is what it feels like. And the fact that they portrayed so many different kinds of psychological torture: and the fact that the groomer is an illusionist: it’s the sad reality of many women. They paint a picture that they can’t maintain and when the mask starts to slip it gets really ugly. I had to skip the animal harm scenes I couldn’t watch that. This film definitely would make one squeamish.
2:52 I mean, something can be f***ed-up and still be good. It would mean that it's relatable or in a metaphorical way, well done. I won't write too much, bc other comments say the same, but it may be something that the creator wanted to explore/portray in a deep level (probably abuse and such).
To clear up a misconception a lot of people seem to have: While ero-guro is TYPICALLY for the audience's pleasure, it can also just be a particularly extreme form of erotic horror such as Videodrome or Hostel.
Even the English Wiki debunks that myth. Quick research would have prevented further spreading misinformation:
„Harada did not allow the film to be released on home media for years, though he eventually allowed a company called Ciné Malta to release the film on DVD in France in 2006 under the name Midori. The film received a resurgence in interest on the Internet during the 2010s due to a false urban legend that the film was banned everywhere.“
I was 13 and my abuse lasted until I was 17. I consumed art like this because it was cathartic, it made me feel seen. As an adult though, I can’t handle things like this anymore.
I SAW THE THUMBNAIL I'M SCREAMING !!! I SAW THIS AS A LIVE ACTION MOVIE, I WAS SO SHOCKED 😭😭😭 I love japanese weird cinema but this was too much⚰️
I watched this movie cause i was stupid enough to think myself brave. And wow, the "disturbing" and "disgusting" are not enough words to describe this movie. Let's just say Mother nature has been embracing me for weeks and i dont see myself letting go anytime soon
I will be a snowflake, this crap triggered me. it's a very hard watch
Where can I watch it
Some of the old 70s manga from Japan based on WW2 stories are also nasty. But I love it.
Where can I find it to watch??
Bro spent 7 minutes saying the same things over and over again.
Where to watch this? I mean for research purposes
20:00
People that are defending this movie and saying they didn't have a reaction is so fucking sick. Its sad how desensitized our society has become and this is how serial killers, murderers, rapists, pedophiles are made because they have no empathy can't feel shit so they do evil shit to feel a little bit of something. Y'all get some help please if you think media like this is enjoyable or cool.
Seriously, why talk too much?
2:32 the director of this gore fest worked on Kirby Right Back At Ya?!
The second you said “and then midori finds some cute little puppies” I OUT LOUD said “OH NO” because I knew, I KNEW horrible things were going to happen to those puppies.
Saying that you need to go home when you’re home is so real
