The reason Dandadan's flashbacks are peak is that there is almost no dialogue and everything is explained with drawing.

Just a random theory on my part but the original kid might have been initially picked by the Kito family and isolated from the others in a cell because of him having albinism (he has very pale skin, white hair and red eyes).
Watching this scene not just make me cry, it makes my heart aches so much.
